It is no secret that housing and safety are needed before individuals can be expected to build healthy relationships and be intentional about being contributors to their communities. Many individuals and families become sick and broken beyond relief when they live chronically homeless or have to settle for living situations that are relationally and environmentally unhealthy.
Currently, Leslie is providing affordable housing options to over 20 individuals and families in the greater Boston and Central Falls/Pawtucket area. She is working with local organizations and a community development corporation to make 30-50 more units available in the next 2 years

STARVING THE PRISON COMPLEX
Statistics show that within five years of release, about three-quarters (76.6 percent) of released prisoners were rearrested. Of those prisoners who were rearrested, more than half (56.7 percent) were arrested by the end of the first year.
Leslie is doing a small part in the movement to curb mass incarceration by partnering with a college to provide furnished, affordable apartments to individuals who have been recently released from prison. The students all started a bachelor’s program while incarcerated and continue their enrollment after their release.
